After the Rain
I have often been asked, "How do you stand living through the winter months in the Pacific Northwest with all the relentless rain, enveloping darkness, and damp chill?” It's the beautiful times in between the dreary cold that really keeps one’s attention focused. The seabreeze alone will chill you to the bone during those long winter months. However, putting in the work and being fully present among the magnificent giant cypress trees, the aged silver sword fern, and the unique vegetation (some of which can only be found on our enchanting island) grounds me deeply and helps keep me engaged in each and every day. When the long-awaited sun does finally peek through the clouds, it’s truly appreciated and lovingly absorbed. The fresh outdoor air and the act of working the island land is rewarding enough to make those chilly days worthwhile.
